Best 7-seater SUV in Belgium: the honest comparison

Which 7-seater SUV to choose in Belgium? Petrol, hybrid and electric compared: a real third row, boot, list price and company-car tax.

ByDamien Crols9 min read

The 7-seater SUV appeals to Belgian families, but many are let down: on most models, the third row only suits children and the boot vanishes the moment it's deployed. This comparison separates the real 7-seaters from the disguised 5+2s.

Direct verdict: in electric, the Kia EV9 is the only one offering a third row usable by adults. In petrol/hybrid, the Skoda Kodiaq remains the rational choice for a Belgian family.

Electric 7-seater SUVs

Kia EV9 — the only true electric 7-seater

The third row genuinely seats adults on a medium trip, which is rare in this segment. Controlled claimed consumption (19.5 kWh/100 km WLTP), good expected residual value, a decent boot (333 L) even in 7-seat mode. It's the choice if 7-seat versatility is real and not occasional.

Peugeot e-5008 — the cheapest

The only electric 7-seater under ~€55,000, with a 502 km WLTP range. Watch out: the boot drops to 259 L once the third row is up — it fills fast on holiday.

Other models genuinely available in BE in 2026: VW ID. Buzz LWB (modularity), Hyundai Ioniq 9, Tesla Model Y (third row optional +€2,500, but clearly for children).

Petrol and hybrid 7-seater SUVs

The large premium 7-seater SUVs — Peugeot 5008, Skoda Kodiaq, Seat Tarraco, Kia Sorento — all show entry prices between €35,000 and €50,000 in 2026. The Honda CR-V hybrid plays the modularity card: available in 5 or 7 seats, with a generous 497-litre boot in 5-seat mode.

The Skoda Kodiaq stands out for its value, interior space and overall balance — a solid choice for large families.
